倫理規定

WYD2008は、カトリック教会の教義と一貫性をもち、誰に対しても、特に若者に対して害を与えることを通じて利益を得ようとしない団体、個人の方々の大会への参加を歓迎します。

WYD08は、以下の倫理的なビジネスの実践の原則(principles for ethical business practice)を支持します。

独立性

WYD08は、カトリック教会の新しい構想です（initiative）。 教皇ベネディクト１６世に代わり信徒評議会によって発議され、シドニー大司教区によって実現されました。 WYD08は16歳から35歳までの巡礼者を対象としています。彼らのうちの多くはティーンネイジャーとなるでしょう。WYDの目的は、若者が彼らの信仰をより深く求め、祈りと相互を顧みる(reflection with each other)中で教皇と時を共有し、神様への愛を再発見する手助けをすることにあります。 ビジネスパートナー、納入業者は、この大会が世界の若者を対象とした宗教的なイベントであり、商業目的ではないことを理解する必要があります。

提携(Partnership)

WYD08は、選ばれたビジネスパートナー及び納入業者を教皇、そして世界の若者と共に、WYD08の主催者と考えます。

したがって、以下のような事柄を指揮する、または指揮している、以下の事柄に関するビジネスに関わる、もしくはかつて関わっている団体及び個人は受け入れることができません。 明らかにカトリック教会の倫理上の教義と相容れない事、 中毒性のもの、その他の有害物を若者に広めようとすること、またその活動で利益をあげようとすること、 教会の教義や、ビジネスの倫理規定に基づいて、社会的に無責任であると判断されること。

開放(openness)

WYD08とシドニー大司教区は、公然とそして情熱をもってビジネスパートナー及び納入業者の大会への参加を認めます。これらの団体も同様に彼らのブランドが、カトリック教会、シドニー大司教区、そしてヨハネパウロ二世、ベネディクト十六世そして信徒評議会が作り上げてきたWYDの歴史と目的と結びつきを持つことを心地よく感じることが必要です。 もし、カトリック教会、シドニー大司教区やWYDの評判、評価を傷つけるようなできごとが起こった場合、WYD08はどんな個人、団体とも公に関係を絶つ必要がでるかもしれません。このような必要性が生じた場合、WYD08はこれから関係をもつ個人や団体と事前に協議を行うことになります。 WYD08と関わりをもつ団体、個人は、大会の評判やイメージの落下、メディアや世論からの悪い意味での注目、重大な法的問題をもつなどの、いかなる情報でも耳にした場合は直ちに報告することを約束します。

情報公開

WYD2008とのビジネス面での提携を希望する方々は、ビジネスや職業のうちで、カトリックの教義に反するとみなされる活動に従事している、または中毒性のもの、その他の有害物を若者に広めようとすること、またその活動で利益をあげようとしていると判断されうる可能性のあるものが含まれる場合はその情報公開に最大限に努力する必要があります。

例として、以下の事柄に関連したり、以下の事柄を広めたりすることは非倫理的で、カトリック教会の教義に反すると判断されます。
・ 乱交、避妊、中絶、不倫
・ 暴力、虐待、故意の自虐、有害物質または行為の中毒、夫婦または家族の崩壊
・ 不当な差別、不当な額の賃金支払い、非倫理的な就労状況、違法ビジネス
・ カトリック信仰の非難、教会指導者の非難、宗教的差別、宗教的に偏狭な考え

以下の事柄が中毒性名もの、その他若者に有害なものと判断されます。
・ 薬物乱用
・ 未成年者による飲酒
・ 未成年者の性交渉
・ 不適切なインターネットの使用を含む、ポルノグラフィー
・ 問題のある賭博行為
・ 深刻なクレジットカードの使用、またはその他の負債
・ 自虐行為、またはその傾向
・ うつ、その他精神的な異常
・ 深刻な無断欠勤、学校での怠慢
・ 重大な非社会的傾向

申請(application)

この倫理規定は、必要に応じて改正され、Bishop Coordinator, Chief Operating Officerが担当します。

WYD Code of Ethics

WYD 2008 (WYD08) welcomes involvement from organizations and individuals whose activities are consistent with the teaching of the Catholic Church and who do not seek to benefit from harm caused to any person, in particular to young persons.

WYD08 supports the following principles for ethical business practice.

Independence

WYD08 is an initiative of the Catholic Church. It is promoted by the (Rome-based) Pontifical Council for the Laity on behalf of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI and operated by the Archdiocese of Sydney.

WYD08 seeks to attract pilgrims aged between 16 and 35, many of whom will be teenagers. The purpose of WYD is to help these young people to explore their faith more deeply, to spend time in prayer and reflection with each other and with His Holiness, and to rediscover the love of God.

Business Partners and Suppliers involved in WYD08 should acknowledge that the event is a religious event focused on the youth of the world, and not a commercial event. All decisions as to signage, advertising, work practices and outcomes remain in the hands of the WYD08.

Partnership

WYD08 regards selected Business Partners and Suppliers as partners in the work of hosting WYD08, together with the Pope, and the youth of the world. Therefore, no individual or organisation is acceptable who conducts or has conducted business, or is associated or has been associated with the conduct of business, that:

  • is clearly inconsistent with the moral teaching of the Catholic Church
  • seeks to promote, or to benefit from, addictive or other harmful responses in young people
  • is likely to be judged socially irresponsible by Church teaching or current business ethics practice

Openness

WYD08 and the Archdiocese of Sydney will openly and enthusiastically acknowledge the involvement of Business Partners and Suppliers. Such organisations in turn should be comfortable with the association of their name and brand with the Catholic Church, the Archdiocese of Sydney, and the traditions and purposes of WYD as these have developed under Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI and the Pontifical Council for the Laity.

Should any event transpire that may damage the good name and reputation of the Catholic Church, the Archdiocese of Sydney or WYD, WYD08 may need to publicly dissociate from any individual or organisation concerned. Should this need arise, WYD08 will discuss the matter with the individual or organisation prior to taking action.

Should any organisation or individual learn of any development that might adversely affect their reputation or image, gain negative media or public attention, or have serious legal implications, that organisation or individual will undertake to inform WYD08 at the earliest opportunity.

Disclosure

Applicants for a business relationship with WYD 2008 should use their best endeavours to disclose any business or professional activities or involvements which they suspect may be judged unethical or contrary to Catholic teaching by WYD08, or which may promote or benefit from addictive or other harmful responses in young people.

As guidance, causing, promoting or willingly benefiting from any of the following would be judged unethical and contrary to Catholic Church teaching:

  • promiscuity, contraception, abortion, adultery;
  • violence, abuse, intentional self-harm, addiction to harmful substances or activities, marital or family breakdown;
  • unjust discrimination, payment of unjust wages, unethical work conditions, illegal business dealings;
  • attacks on Catholic faith, attacks on Church leaders, religious discrimination, religious bigotry
The following would be judged addictive or harmful responses in young people:

  • substance abuse
  • under-age drinking
  • under-age sex
  • pornography, including inappropriate Internet usage
  • problem gambling
  • serious credit card or other debt
  • self-harm or tendencies towards self-harm
  • depression and other psychological disorders
  • serious truancy or inattentiveness in school
  • significant anti-social tendencies

Application

The Bishop Coordinator and Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for the application of this Code of Ethics, which may be amended from time to time.
