The Journey of the Cross & Icon Travelling Team (JCI TT) There will be two teams of people accompanying the Cross & Icon on its journey around Australia.

The first team will be part of the journey from July 2007 to November 2007. Find out more about the team...

5 things you should know about me

  1. I'm a priest of the Missionary of God's Love - a new community of priests and brothers (There are MGL sisters too).
  2. I like jazz
  3. My favourite colours are brown and white
  4. I am a Collingwood fan

What excites me most about being part of the JCI Travelling Team is: The chance to listen to people from all over the country share about their faith, and to see that faith enriched and deepened through their encounter with the WYD Cross and Icon.

  1. Have lived in 3 Australian states and 3 different countries since 2002
  2. I run to keep fit and keep sane!
  3. I collect personal pope meetings... two so far, JPII & BXVI
  4. Originally from the Port Pirie Diocese in SA - you haven't travelled till you've been to Pirie!
  5. I recently completed a Fellowship program in Interfaith Relations.

What excites me most about being part of the JCI Travelling Team is: ...being surprised and inspired by the ways young Australians will 'carry' the cross across the Aussie landscape, and in their hearts.

5 things you should know about me

  1. I once saved a Mexican dude from drowning in Mexico and it turned out he was a gun smuggler who had a warrant on his head from the government. He even gave us a fake name.
  2. I am tall, lanky and have hair with a mood of its own
  3. I really, really enjoy working with young people
  4. I am originally from Sydney and go for the Swans
  5. I just won an award for Volunteer of the Year in QLD

What excites me most about being part of the JCI Travelling Team is: The elements of the journey that excite me most is the incredible opportunity to be a part of something that will be life changing for so many people. I am lucky to have a very intimate knowledge of young people of Australia and I am so excited at the opportunity to capture the stories and experiences of young people as they immerse themselves in the journey. Also very excited to travel with such a great group of people.

  1. I am the youngster in a family of 7
  2. I come from the 2nd best state in Australia - Victoria and one day I will live in the best NSW
  3. Love to help out others with my gifts and talents that God has given me.
  4. Can't find someone in a crowd? I'm your man.
  5. There's nothing like a cold beer and a warm hug (A deck of cards and poker chips are always welcomed)

What excites me most about being part of the JCI Travelling Team is: Many things excite me about being apart of this amazing experience but mostly being able to use my skills and follow the desire in my heart to share the experience of WYD and of God in my life to all those I meet on the road around Australia. Also doing youth ministry while travelling and seeing our big land of Australia is very exciting.

  1. One of three sisters
  2. I'm pretty relaxed about most things
  3. The WYD Cross is wider than I am tall!
  4. I like eating REALLY dark chocolate - the higher the percentage of cocoa the better!
  5. I love reading maps

What excites me most about being part of the JCI TT is: Travelling with the Cross and Icon that have already touched the hearts and minds of so many people all around the world. I can't wait to get on the road and share my faith with other young people and to have a glimpse of the universality of the Church in Australia.

5 things you should know about me

  1. I have built a classroom, training centre and community hall in Costa Rica and Kenya.
  2. I am inspired by Mother Teresa, and Jacinta, one of the children of Fatima.
  3. I learnt the Rosary whilst travelling on WYD2005
  4. White water rafting down the river Nile is my favourite sporting moment.
  5. I am called Jacs.

What excites me most about being part of the JCI Travelling Team is: The opportunity to participate and share with young Catholics who are passionately living out our faith. It is quite a special feeling to be able to take to the many youth of Australia, the Cross and Icon of Our Lady that Pope JP2 has given to us, the youth of the world.

  1. Happily Married and Parent of two adult daughters

  3. Enjoy quietly contributing for others
  4. Golf is a continual challenge, though enjoyable
  5. I do NOT sing and I CANNOT play a musical instrument lol

What excites me most about being part of the JCI Travelling Team is: I believe that it is a contribution that I can make supporting the future of our Catholic and Christian youth. It is a way that I can 'live' my own faith. I enjoy driving and have a desire to see even more of Australia and its great diversity.
