Australian Parishes

It is our hope that WYD08 will provide a catalyst for ongoing renewal of parish life throughout Australia. We are now encouraging dioceses to establish a WYD08 contact in every parish to assist parishioners with information about WYD08 and ways that the parish will be involved in the preparations and celebrations.

The WYD08 Diocesan and Youth Ministry Committee is preparing parish support materials which will provide advice and suggestions to priests, parish councils, youth leaders and parents on:

• How to set up a youth group in your parish
• How to develop sustainable and effective youth ministry in parishes
• How to prepare for an increase of enthusiastic and committed young people in the parish after WYD08
• How to engage young people in the life and mission of the parish

The Committee will also provide materials that will be used to support the spiritual, pastoral and catechetical formation of young people in regular meetings leading up to WYD08.

The parish support materials will be available here from January 2007 for easy access and download.
