Frequently Asked Questions: Employment

• How old do I have to be to be able to work as an employee for WYD08? Employees will need to be aged 18 years or over at the time they commence their employment with WYD08.
• If I am not an Australian citizen, will I need a special visa to be able to be employed by WYD08? Yes. Unless you are an Australian citizen, or you have permanent resident status, you will need a visa which allows you to work in Australia for the period of your employment with WYD08. We are working with the Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs to streamline the visa process. In the meantime, for more information on visas, click here
• Will I have to pay my own travel, accommodation and re-location costs if I am employed by WYD08? Yes, unless special arrangements are made with WYD08, you will be responsible for your own travel, relocation and accommodation expenses.
• Can I bring my family with me? Of course! But you must check the visa requirements for each person who will accompany you.
• Will WYD08 be able to employ me after the celebration in July 2008 is finished? Some positions may continue for a short time after World Youth Day 2008 is finished, but as a general guide, all contracts of employment would end in July 2008.
