CORPORATE PROFILE
WYD 2008 is the entity created to organise WYD08. We report to the Vatican, via the Pontifical Council for the Laity, which is the official Vatican body for the organisation of World Youth Days.

The WYD08 Local Organising Committee (LOC) was established early in 2006 to provide recommendations and advise on the optimum ways to satisfy the requirements of WYD08 and to promote WYD08 and providing practical assistance in addressing planning and logistical challenges.
His Eminence, Cardinal George Pell AC chairs the LOC. The LOC supports the WYD08 office in its responsibility to organise World Youth Day in accordance with the requirements of the Archbishop of Sydney and the Vatican. It also reviews and endorses strategic and operational plans and monitors progress.
The LOC has 21 members, with representatives of the Sydney Archdiocese, Australian Bishops, Federal and State Government, Australian youth, business and community.
